(08/08/2006) Campaign Launch

Strong Fur Season for Autumn/Winter 2006-2007

The International Fur Trade Federation [IFTF] this week launches international ad campaigns

The Vogue campaign explores high fashion, luxury without measure and the tempestuous beauty of fur.

Directed by Vogue France, the six-page ‘Fur for Fashionistas’ promotion will run in 11 national September editions of Vogue, reaching 16 million readers. Elin Hörnfelt photographed the campaign, which was styled by Julia von Boehm and features  garments from Burberry, Roberto Cavalli, Jean Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Julien Macdonald, Prada and Louis Vuitton. A behind-the-scenes video of the shoot can be seen at www.fur-style.com.  Wallpaper* looks at the sensuous appeal and hedonistic beauty of fur. The underlying message that unites these beautiful images is fur as the choice of strong, stylish women with a sense of individuality.

IFTF’s ’Undercover’ campaign in the September issue of Wallpaper* features an après-ski couple lounging in fur – a fox coat from Christian Dior on the man and a mink coat from Fendi on the woman. The double-page spread will reach 100,000-plus design-conscious readers in more than 70 countries. Rebecca Pierce shot the campaign in London.

Fur is integral to luxury and international fashion, illustrated at Fall/Winter 2006-2007 Haute Couture shows in Paris during July.  Global sales of furs were up in 2005 for the seventh consecutive year, reaching a figure of US$12.77 billion.

SUPPLEMENTARY NOTE TO EDITORS:

1. Established in 1949, the International Fur Trade Federation is a federation of 36 national fur trade associations and organizations from 30 countries. Through its work and the activities of its members, IFTF seeks to protect fur trade interests and to promote innovation, high standards and a positive factual image of fur and the fur industry internationally.

2.     The British Fur Trade Association (BFTA) is a member of the International Fur Trade Federation (IFTF).

3. IFTF is fully committed to maintaining high standards of care.  The fur trade is well regulated under international, national or regional laws and guidelines.  The international fur trade does not use endangered animals for any purpose.

4. The September and October issues of 14 editions of ELLE (not UK) will also feature full fur and fur accessories in double-page spreads entitled, ‘Stand Out and Be Yourself – Let Fur Inspire You’ The inspiring “stand outs” in the September issue are a sable cape and mink-trimmed gloves from Valentino, a silver fox hat from Marc Jacobs, and a chinchilla blanket and a mink bag from Fendi. The spread was shot in New York by Gilles Bensimon, creative director of ELLE US, which is read by 10 million readers each month.

5. Images of the Vogue and ELLE campaigns are available to view at iftf.com and fur-style.com. A behind-the-scenes video of the Vogue shoot can also be seen at www.fur-style.com.  The images from the Wallpaper* campaign will be available online from 10 August.
