(19/10/2005) Wrap up warm with fur

With winter on the way and recent reports showing that we are heading for a very cold period, now is the time to get your fur coats out of storage and wrap up warm.

Or if you don't have a fur - now is the time to make a new purchase. With fur sales increasing over the past four years internationally and in the EU & UK there is every indication that the 2005/2006 season will bring a further increase in retail fur sales.

British Fur Trade Association (BFTA) retail members have reported that fur retail sales have risen by a third compared to the previous year and there are plenty of garments and accessories around to suit all tastes.

Fur is now very versatile and it can be worn as daywear through to eveningwear. It is also lightweight due to new techniques of knitting, shearing and plucking.  Lightweight garments and fur-trimmed garments are also appealing to younger people. Designers are realising the versatility of fur and the many options open to them allowing for a bigger selection of styles available to the consumer.
