(09/08/2004) International Fur Trade Federation Launches New Campaign in Vogue
The International Fur Trade Federation (IFTF) today launches its 2004 global advertising campaign, targeting fur-loving "fashionistas" worldwide.
Created in association with Vogue US, the six-page colour advertorial will appear in the highly influential September issue of ten national editions of Vogue, including the UK, as well as in the China edition of Cosmopolitan.
Andreas Lenhart, IFTF Chairman, said: "Vogue is easily one of the most recognised international trend-setters – it’s a fashion ‘bible’. So we were delighted to work with them on this year’s promotion, ‘FurEver’, which rightly highlights fur as an essential fashion choice, integral to today’s lifestyle."
The new campaign is the third consecutive annual global promotion by IFTF, during a period of remarkable growth in the international fur market. In 2003, worldwide sales of fur were US$11.3 billion, marking the fifth year in a row of increased sales. With all important designers around the world now incorporating fur into their ready-to-wear and haute couture collections, fur made many of the strongest statements seen during the Autumn-Winter 2004 Fashion Weeks from New York to Paris.
Some of the most memorable of these are featured in the 2004 IFTF campaign, which includes diverse styles from ten internationally-recognised design houses: Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier, Carolina Herrera, Michael Kors, Lanvin, Missoni, Prada, Clements Ribeiro, Valentino and Louis Vuitton.
Shot by renowned fashion photographer Pamela Hanson, the advertorial captures the excitement and "city chic" energy of the designs, but also shows how easily fur now moves from the catwalk to real life situations.
"Our concept was to show young, trendy women wearing fur in very natural situations," commented Hanson. "It was fun to be able to shoot fur in a modern, fashionable way that people can relate to."
More than 15 million readers will see the IFTF campaign in the September issues of Vogue in France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States, along with Cosmopolitan in China.
The British Fur Trade Association (BFTA) is a member of the International Fur Trade Federation (IFTF).
