Real fur & fake fur
Fur is a natural, versatile, transformable and multi-dimensional product, purchased to express a consumer's individuality and creativity - and to fulfil their desires. To those living in particularly cold climates, it is also an essential part of their wardrobe, used daily to protect them from the elements, and just as valuable now as it has been for most of human history.
Fur is the natural product of sustainable, renewable resources through breeding and selection. It is a durable raw material for clothing, which unlike synthetics based on oil, does not exhaust natural resources. It is biodegradable. Because of its durability it can be remodelled and reused. Fur delivers rare benefits in sustaining fragile communities and habitats, and embodies traditions of human craftsmanship that few other modern products possess.
Many 'fake' furs are manufactured with non-renewable petroleum based products.
There is no real comparison between the two - real fur cannot be matched for its beauty, softness and glamour. The attraction of fur is its touch and feel and the way it plays with light and movement.
